Morton’s Fork has returned to racing in smart form this time and remains a clear $2 favourite in 2016 Sandown Guineas betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Jennifer Lynn ($3.90) and Faraway Town ($7.50).

Will Morton’s Fork justify favouritism and win the 2016 Sandown Guineas, or will one of his talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Morton’s Fork ($2)

Morton’s Fork carries excellent condition into the Sandown Guineas; a race that appears tailor-made for the three-year-old. Performing well through a short winter campaign before returning to the paddock for a freshen-up, the Ad Valorem colt resumed for success in the NGS Super BM74 (1300m) on September 28th. Progressing to fifth in the Listed Gothic Stakes (1400m) on October 15th, Morton’s Fork was last seen running second in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) and should prove extremely tough to beat on Saturday.

2nd

Benz ($8.50)

Benz has produced a number of impressive results for South Australian trainer Gordon Richards this time and appears as though he will relish a step up to a mile in the Sandown Guineas. Beating the likes of Ken’s Dream to the line in the Quest Moonee Valley Plate (1200m) on September 30th, the Bushranger gelding has since finished fifth in each of the Listed Durbridge Stakes (1200m) and Listed Hilton Stakes (1400m). Drawn ideally in barrier 6, Benz will be partnered by Dwayne Dunn in the Sandown Guineas.

3rd

Fomo ($21)

Fomo has shown plenty of ability through a short career so far and carries competitive form at a mile into the Sandown Guineas. Debuting for fourth in the Naubro Maiden Plate (1400m) on September 12th, the Pins colt progressed to success in the Become A Donald Member Maiden (1350m) before placing third in the Sportsbet Racing Form Handicap (1600m) last time out on October 27th. With the notable advantage of Hugh Bowman in the saddle, Fomo should find a good position in transit, away from the early carnage from the outside barrier.
